How calculations work

For a sinusoidal vibration with frequency f in Hz, angular frequency is ω = 2πf. For matching amplitude conventions:

v = ωx   ·   a = ωv = ω²x

Peak = √2 × RMS and Peak-to-Peak = 2√2 × RMS. Input values are converted to SI RMS internally, then converted to your selected output units and amplitude. Values are rounded to six significant digits for display; calculations use full browser numeric precision.

1 g = 9.80665 m/s²; 1 in = 25.4 mm; 1 mil = 0.001 in; 1 ft = 0.3048 m. Hz = CPM ÷ 60. Shaft RPM equals CPM only for vibration at 1× shaft speed.

The preview shows two cycles of your input quantity. RMS guides are drawn symmetrically around zero; RMS itself is a nonnegative magnitude. Playback is illustrative and does not reproduce the physical frequency. This tool does not assess machine condition or severity.
